I am Brian Franklin's mother. It has been heart breaking seeing my innocent son in prison for fourteen years! He was never in trouble while in high school or college. We have never had anyone in trouble with the law in our family until this horrible nightmare.
Brian has missed so much in our family in these past years--weddings of brother, sister and nephew, deaths of his father, step-father, grandmother and grandfather--graduations of his daughter, son, niece and nephews. His children don't even know him. He deserves another trial where the girl tells the truth. Over the years she has told herself a lie that she probably actually believes it to be true. Will justice ever be granted in a Texas court? I pray for Brian's freedom before my death. Irene Franklin Taylor
Brian is my younger brother by 5 years. As a kid, he was always into sports, especially football. He was rabid Cowboys fan even though he lived in Buffalo, NY. When he was a senior in high school and trying to decide on a career path, I was the one who suggested he be a police officer and major in criminology, which he did.
Brian never did this thing he was accused of...he just was caught up in a somebody else's sick situation and was a scapegoat to deflect attention from Brandi's and her step-father's sexual relationship. He is a victim of perjury.....not a rapist. The victim was not in a normal family situation....it's very sad....but was no excuse to drag my brother into it. I wish there was DNA or some physical evidence, but there isn't. Nothing except the word of a girl who was not mentally balanced. At his trial, she appeared normal and believable, but no one knew that she was being raped by her step father at the time. Now we know.....and Brian deserves another trial!!! - Darrell Franklin
